Campbell Racing and Whats Going On?

Monster Energy 3rd place RCQ

by Tammy Campbell on 04/22/13

It was a last minute decision to go to PA for the first east coast Ultra4 race of the season.  I kept thinking I still have things out of order from our week at KOH. But I'm glad I went.  My flight wasn't the greatest but you can't stop Mother nature.  I finally landed in Harrisburg around 8:45 and I was starving.  Shannon finally found me at the airport.  We were trying to get back to O'Neals before the kitchen closed and Mike was awesome enough to hold it open just a little longer.  The food there is wonderful.  "Thank You!"  The rain rolled in around 5am on Friday and pretty much lasted most of the day.  The guys got one lap in for prerunning and qualifying was cancelled until Saturday.  The clouds/fog was pretty thick.  Everyone headed to O'Neals for dinner and drinks.  We had a great time.  All night Erik Miller kept saying that it would be him and Shannon-1 & 2 off the start and he was right.  Pretty cool to watch these two take off. Bill Baird and Derek West started in the 2nd row.  I didn't hear about this until right before Shannon crossed the finish line but he put on quite the show by rolling over and landing on his wheels going down the stair step. Crazy!  The car worked great-no issues except for the tree stumps that kept getting in his way. Thank you to Will Carter for parting out your car!  Shannon kept it together and took the 3rd place podium position!  Congratulations to Derek West 1st and Erik Miller 2nd. I look forward to going back and visiting with all the people I met. Next up is a Lucas Oil race in Vegas for Wayland. He's pretty excited about racing the Prolite truck again.  The race is April 26-28th at Las Vegas Raceway.

Wayland gets his first podium in Ultra4/2013 Stampede

by Tammy Campbell on 04/16/13

Well needless to say I am so proud of our team!  Shannon had belt issues in qualifying but showed his never give up attitude and was still able to qualify 4th in his heat. Wayland and Miller stayed in there for a 3rd place finish in their heat.  I followed the whole race through the live link provided by Ultra4-Thank You!  Green flag waived and I kind of just listened for the sounds of the Campbell machines as they moved up through the pack by the first rock garden.  My heart dropped when I heard Shannon had some mechanical issues but Wayland and Miller were still out there chasing the leader.  I read that Wayland had moved up to 4th and then 3rd and all I could think was just keep it together Wayman! As soon as the race was over I got a text from Ryan Miller (Co-driver) that said your boy is a bad a$$!  I typed back and so is his co-driver!  Congratulations Wayland and Ryan on a 3rd place finish at the Ultra4 Metalcloak Norcall Stampede.

Bailey's first race!

by Tammy Campbell on 04/01/13

I'm sure Bailey will want to talk about her week at Easter Jeep Safari and the Dirt Riot race but I just need to say how proud I am of both her and Wayland.  Bailey has been bugging Shannon for a while to let her race something. Well I think he is pretty proud of how she did.  Shannon and Bailey arrived in Moab, UT on Tuesday and were able to run some trails and attend some industry parties.  Charlene Bower is awesome! - she took Bailey around and introduced her to a ton people. Some knew her as Shannon's daughter but now they know her as Bailey Campbell, future racer of Campbell Racing.  The kids went out with Crawl Magazine to do a photo shoot and had a blast.  It was kind of weird to just let them go out and about on their own.  They had a blast.  Bailey was able to get a bunch of prerunning in and felt pretty comfortable in the car. On Saturday she qualified 11th out 20. Bailey and Wayland got strapped in and were ready to go. The car that started in front of her rolled on the first obstacle but thank goodness she had practiced taking an alternate line and was able nail the climb and continue on.  Finishing the 3 lower laps she headed up to do 2 upper loops. Going on her second lap she was going to make a pass and in all the dust she went to far to the left and hit the jump and hit nose first. Both kids were fine. Bailey was more upset because she wanted to finish.  I really need to Thank everyone that rushed over to make sure they were ok.  I know Loren Healy was there pulling Bailey out but in all the craziness I can't remember everyones names. Please know that I am very grateful to all of you. Hope to see you all at the next race.  Tammy
